Patrick Munyomo Leads DC Virunga Delegation to Present President’s Cup Trophy to President Félix Tshisekedi

DC Virunga: Patrick Munyomo Presents President’s Cup Trophy to Félix Tshisekedi

National MP Patrick Munyomo, Sports President of Daring Club Virunga of Goma, led a delegation from the club on Saturday to the African Union City, where they were received by President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.

During the meeting, the delegation officially presented the Head of State with the trophy won by DC Virunga in the 60th edition of the President’s Cup, also known as the Congo Cup.

Beyond the sporting achievement, the club dedicated this historic victory to the people of North Kivu, with a special thought for Congolese citizens living in areas affected by the conflict and under M23 occupation.

According to Patrick Munyomo, the trophy represents much more than a football victory. It carries a powerful message of unity, resilience, hope, and peace—values that DC Virunga seeks to promote through sport while standing in solidarity with the people of its home province.

President Félix Tshisekedi, for his part, reaffirmed that restoring peace and security remains one of the Congolese authorities’ highest priorities.

Through this achievement, DC Virunga hopes to make football not only a source of pride for Goma and North Kivu, but also a symbol of hope for communities affected by the ongoing security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
